Rongo University uniquely celebrated this year’s Mother’s Day. The
institution’s staff visited Neema Children’s Home in Migori County to,
as a mother, comfort the vulnerable children at the Centre.

The visit, organized as part of the Community Outreach programme, aimed to support more than fifty children who were given essentials and offered emotional encouragement. “We came here not just to give, but to connect and uplift. These children deserve love, care, and opportunities to dream,” said the University Librarian, Mr. Joel Nakitare, who was also the Outreach team leader. The items included: foodstuffs, books, pens, clothes, toiletries, sanitary towels, detergents, shoes, among others. The staff also volunteered to offer mentorship talks and spent quality time interacting with the youngsters. The visibly happy children beautifully sang gospel songs, expressing hope.

“It’s been a wonderful day. We have shared a lot, and I am hopeful that one day I will achieve my dreams, “said a 15 year-old child at the Home.

The Centre’s Clinical Officer, Jackline Odhiambo expressed gratitude to Rongo University. “Support like this not only meets physical needs but also reminds the children they are not forgotten.”
