DR. ENG. JOHN KIPNGETICH MOSONIK, CBS, EBS

Chancellor, Rongo University

Dr. Eng. John Kipngetich Mosonik, CBS, EBS, is a distinguished technocrat with 35 years of executive leadership across public and private sectors, spanning telecommunications engineering, infrastructure, energy, and strategic governance. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (FIEK) and registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

He holds a DBA in Strategic Leadership (Northcentral University, USA), a PhD in Strategic Management (Moi University, Kenya), and advanced postgraduate degrees in Digital Transformation, Finance, Strategic Focus, and Business Administration, alongside a BSc in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications, University of Nairobi).

His key achievements include spearheading 6,000 km of rural roads across 47 Kenyan counties, pioneering telecom and oil and gas projects, and shaping national industrialization policies.

His current mandates include serving as Chancellor of Rongo University (January 2026–present), where he provides advisory oversight and institutional guidance; Non-Executive Director at Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) and Chair of its Strategy Committee; and Non-Executive Director at Safaricom PLC and Chair of its Investment and Innovation Committee, advancing fintech, 5G, AI, and digital infrastructure investments.
