regarding how the media can be used as a powerful tool to enhance democracy and cultivate a culture of peace and security in Africa. This was found necessary given the magnitude of conflicts and democratic crises experienced across the continent.

There is a dire need for positive peace as opposed to negative peace which merely translates to absence of conflict. The center focuses on graduate and undergraduate research on peace and security informed through Africanism and African philosophy, training learners pursuing certificate, masters and PhD Degrees in the area of media, peace-building, conflict prevention and democracy.

The center also acts as a policy think-tank for government, security agencies and the civil society on matters peace and security and Media's role therein.
