About The Department

The Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computing is one of the three constituting the School of Science Technology and Engineering. It began life in 2019, having been hived off the Department of Physical Sciences. Three major anchor undergraduate programmes are domiciled in the department namely; BSc in Applied Statistics with Computing, BSc in Computer Science and BSc in Mathematics, all being fully accredited by the Commission for University Education.

In tandem with the university’s mission, we endeavor to be at the forefront in teaching and learning, and fostering practical market-driven research. This is achieved through a dedicated and ambitious regular faculty supported by qualified and experienced lecturers on adjunct basis. Further, our courses build a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics and computer science for students throughout the University. Graduates from the three programmes in the department have a wide array of potential careers in the civil service, private sector and academia both in and outside Kenya.
