On 5th November, 2025, Rongo University launched a Tree Planting Partnership with Safaricom PLC, marking a major milestone in the institution’s ongoing efforts toward environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The event, themed “Greening the Future: Growing Trees, Growing Hope”, brought together key stakeholders led by Ms. Brendah Lomosi Ngesa from Safaricom PLC and Mr. Evans Odao from the Kenya Forest Service. The delegation was warmly received by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Gudu, who lauded the partnership as a transformative step in advancing climate action and fostering a greener future.

Also present was Prof. Daniel Nyamai, who spearheads environmental conservation initiatives at Rongo University and played a leading role in coordinating the exercise.

We appreciate the participation of our students and the university choir, ably led by Mr. Caleb Nyangwono, and the staff who graced the event with their presence.

Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to a sustainable environment — one tree at a time.
