Rongo University and Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa) held a day-long training for the RU academic staff and post-graduate students. The theme for the training was “How to improve research output and visibility”.

During the training, the participants were taken through various Open Access strategies and platforms that can be used to improve the quality of research output and visibility.

The following themes were covered;

1.      Research discovery and dissemination in high-impact journals strategies (Mr. Nicholas Outa- TCC Africa)

2.      Thesis supervision strategies by Prof. Samuel Gudu – RU

3.      Open access resources for research and scholarly writing by Mr. Joel Nakitare

4.      Best university teaching practices by Dr. Jane Kembo – RU

5.      Emerging issues in the graduate school policies and guidelines by Dr. Edward Anino RU

6.      Do’s and don’ts in graduate studies Dr. Elisha Omoso – Lecturer, Rongo University

7.      Tips on how to finish your thesis on time by Dr. John Ambuchi – RU

As part of the way forward, all the graduate students are to be enrolled in the TCC for Africa mentorship program. Some of the forthcoming activities will be group or individualized mentorship and several virtual sessions. The University Library will be the central point for coordination and support on the various platforms and tools that were presented.
