More than 280 young people participated in a transformative Digital Literacy Training at the South Rift Digital and Innovation Hub in Kimawit, Sotik — marking a major step toward building a digitally empowered generation.
Empowering Youth Through Digital Skills
The South Rift region witnessed an exciting milestone as hundreds of students gathered for a free Digital Literacy Training programme aimed at equipping learners with essential technology skills for the modern world.
The impressive turnout demonstrated the growing interest among young people to embrace digital transformation, innovation, and technology-driven opportunities. The event created an environment of learning, inspiration, and practical engagement as participants explored various digital concepts and emerging technologies.
Training Facilitated by Rongo University
The training was facilitated by Rongo University – ICT Department under the leadership of Prof. Michael Ntabo – DVC ASA, together with Dr. James Abila – HOD ICT and the dedicated ICT Department team.
Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, participants gained exposure to digital literacy skills designed to prepare them for academic growth, entrepreneurship, innovation, and employment opportunities in an increasingly digital economy.
The initiative reflects Rongo University’s commitment to community empowerment, digital inclusion, and expanding access to technology knowledge beyond the classroom.
