The Vice Chancellor Prof. Samwel Gudu and the University Librarian Mr. Joel Nakitare handed over 10,000 children books to 8 schools and 4 community libraries from Migori and Homabay Counties. While handing over the books, the Vice Chancellor challenged the teachers present to use the books well and promote the reading culture in the community as a way of building a firm foundation for prosperous Kenya. Speaking on behalf of the teachers and community leaders present, Madam Bunnie Anguyu of Kugui primary school thanked the university and African Library Project in supporting the schools and the Community at large. She likened the books to a lighting lamp. They should not be hidden but rather be used and shared. This donation is part of the ongoing project and has so far seen over 150 community and schools libraries receive over 152,000 books.
