SECURITY DEPARTMENT

Introduction

The Security Department is charged with Campus security to ensure safety of students, employees, visitors, service providers and security of University property.

Functions of the Department

  1. Protection of University property
  2. Investigation of crimes, incidents and accidents
  3. Collection and sharing of intelligence
  4. Liaison with Government security agencies and Emergency response teams
  5. Detection and prevention of crime
  6. Maintenance of order
  7. Provision of an advisory role on security and safety issues to students and staff
  8. Responding to disasters and providing emergency support

  1. Coordinates the teams carrying out investigations

  2. Conducts investigations Ensures gathering, labelling, preservation and storage exhibits

  3. Writing reports on investigations

Operations & Training

  1. Oversees the day to day security operations of deployment, supervision and allocation of duties
  2. Ensures proper channels of communication exist and enhances discipline of staff
  3. Initiates investigations of crimes and incidents and prepare preliminary reports
  4. Plans and coordinates security operations
  5. Coordinates staff when responding to emergencies
  6. Trains and coordinates training of staff
